New report in to short trips in Wellington

Findings in the recently released report in to short trip active mode travel in Wellington shows that 79% of respondents in the greater Wellington region had made a short trip up to two kilometres in the 24 hours prior to interview, which is a decrease on the 89% recorded in the 2006 survey.

Short Trip Active Mode Research Report

Report for the Greater Wellington Regional Council by Peter Glen Research. An update survey, to measure the changes that have occurred in short trip behaviour since the previous reports.

The primary aim of the research was to gain an updated reading of active mode travel in the greater Wellington region, specifically:

Tuesday Lunchtime Wellington Walks

Tuesday Lunchtime Wellington Walks 2024 start at Plimmer statue (the man with his dog) at the base of Plimmer Steps on Lambton Quay every Tuesday at 12.30pm from 13 February to 26 November.​

These Civic walks are designed to last less than 1 hour so that those who work in the city can get back to work on time.

The aim of the Wellington walks is to show people shortcuts around the city as well as historical and modern points of interest and at the same time allow people to keep fit in good company.

On 3rd June , Hon. Tariana Turia, Associate Minister for Health joined Living Streets Wellington members for a lunchtime walk, and helped to launch the new pocket maps range. There are three maps, showing short walks around the city and they are freely available for anyone wanting to explore Wellington.
