Report ... Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program

Pilot program shows that walking and biking are key to reducing emissions With 75 percent of all trips under one mile taken via car, it would seem that part of the low-hanging fruit for reducing emissions and fuel consumption would be to work hard on lowering that number. Most people drive for those short trips because we've spent the last 50 years building an environment that makes walking and biking either uninviting or impossible. So what happens when communities get incentives to invest in policies and spending that helps make pedestrian and bicycle travel easier?
