The newly established Walking Access Commission Board has an interesting challenge ahead of it. The board was appointed on Monday by Rural Affairs Minister Damien O’Connor and was created under the Walking Access Act 2008.
The commission will provide leadership on walking access issues, develop a national strategy, map out walking access, develop a code of responsible conduct, and provide information to the public. The board members have experience in farming, forestry, public service, local government and law.
We wish them well with their mission of mproving and extending walking access to our outdoor heritage.
