Walkers are invited to “fuel up” at Frank Kitts park this Wednesday morning from 7-9 am on their way to work.
“Whether you walk all the way to work, or catch the bus or train and then walk, it’s a great way to start the day,” says Liz Thomas, director of Living Streets Aotearoa.
“We invite you to come and celebrate with other active commuters, and enjoy some breakfast treats and spot prizes to help you on your way.”
According to the 2006 census, there are already over 15,000 Wellingtonians walking to work, with many more public transport users also walking as part of their journey.
Minister of Transport, the Hon Annette King, will be among the speakers at the event.
