Call for abstracts now open for the 4th New Zealand Walking conference
Living Streets Aotearoa is running the 4th New Zealand Conference on walking and liveable communities on 2/3 August 2010 in Wellington. The focus of this conference is on economic value, with the theme: “Dollars and Sense of Walking; creating liveable communities”.
Walking is part of the solution to many of the issues facing New Zealand today. Communities which are walking-friendly and liveable attract people, businesses and tourists, resulting in higher property values, revitalised local businesses, lower health costs and safer, more pleasant neighbourhoods. The iconic cities in the world are walkable communities.
Individuals and groups are invited to submit an abstract on any topic related to walking, particularly looking at the theme of “Dollars & Sense of Walking”.
We are looking for as many high-quality presentations as possible, and will select and group these to present an exciting, thought provoking programme. We aim to bring together people and presenters with different perspectives to stimulate debate and encourage the spread of ideas. To ensure all those attending this conference have a sense of involvement and action, we plan to provide opportunities for interactive workshops / walkshops and other fun events throughout the conference, therefore we welcome your contributions and innovative ideas.
Abstracts must be received by 26th February 2010.
