The Central Hawke's Bay Disability Network identified a need for an all-terrain vehicle which could be used on the beach, trails, forest walks and paths.
They started by talking with other communities who already had wheelchairs and got advice and information from them.
The next step was talking to the community so, as well as all of the feedback via their own organisations and families they all work with, they developed a short survey that went out over the Dec 2020-Jan 2021 period.
The results from this survey confirmed that the needed to get this resource for their community and that all age groups were affected.
They researched and fundraised $10,500 to buy one.
It is available for borrowing from the local pool and is provided without cost. [Photo supplied]
