DOC Information: Golden Bay Area tracks and walks

The Golden Bay area covers the rugged north-west coast and the extensive shallow bays and estuaries of Golden Bay. Small areas of modified lowlands are enclosed by forest-clad mountains including the northern part of Abel Tasman National Park. At its tip is wild, sandy Farewell Spit. This spectacular rolling 25-kilometre landform is internationally important as a sanctuary for migrating shorebirds.
