How to take part and walk more
Walking is a wonderful, healthy and fun part of every journey!
Because work and everyday routines can vary so much, here are some suggestions for taking part:
Walk all or part of the way to work.
Join others in walking to work - your neighbours, family, flatmates, friends, workmates, coffee crew.
Working from home? - schedule a group walk and all leave your desk for a break at the same time.
Leave the car at home – walk to the train station or take the bus.
Get off the bus a couple of stops earlier and walk the last part to work.
Walk to the local shops or walk the kids to school.
If you're a regular walker, take a different route.
This year's Walk2Work Day is supported by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
The Foundation's 'Five Ways to Wellbeing' are actions to take in our day to day lives for the wellbeing of individuals, families, communities and organisations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Living Streets Aotearoa started this annual day in 2009 to celebrate people walking to their everyday activities.
We encourage people to get out there, leave the car behind and walk to work, or use public transport for part of their journey and walk the rest of the way.
